Efficient Continuous Connectivity Broadcast
The rapid growth of intelligent transportation systems has brought about significant
advancements in vehicular communication technologies, particularly through the development
of Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs). These networks enable vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and
vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication, collectively referred to as Vehicle-to-Everything
(V2X) communication. VANETs play a crucial role in enhancing road safety, enabling traffic
management, and delivering real-time services such as collision avoidance alerts, traffic
congestion updates, and emergency response coordination Efficient Continuous Connectivity Broadcast.
Although VANETs hold transformative potential, ensuring continuous and reliable broadcast communication in such highly dynamic environments remains a major research challenge. This is because frequent topology changes caused by high vehicle speeds, varying node densities, and intermittent connectivity often disrupt the efficient dissemination of information. Moreover, traditional broadcast mechanisms frequently suffer from issues such as broadcast storms, high latency, and poor scalability in urban or highway scenarios. As a result, these limitations significantly hinder the ability to maintain stable and low-latency communication, which, in turn, is critical for safety-critical applications and real-time decision-making.
Introduction
To address these challenges, recent research has explored adaptive routing protocols that can
dynamically adjust to changes in network topology and traffic conditions. While these
approaches improve routing flexibility, they often rely on centralized decision-making or
require significant processing power on individual vehicles, leading to increased latency and
resource consumption. At the same time, edge computing has emerged as a promising solution
to offload computation-intensive tasks from vehicles to nearby edge servers (e.g., roadside
units or RSUs). Edge computing significantly brings processing closer to data sources, thereby reducing response time and simultaneously enabling context-aware decision-making for real-time vehicular applications. In this context, this paper introduces an Efficient Continuous Connectivity Broadcast Scheme (CCBS) that seamlessly integrates adaptive routing with edge computing in order to provide a robust and scalable solution for continuous data dissemination in VANETs. Thus, the proposed approach aims to address the challenges of dynamic vehicular environments while enhancing network efficiency. The proposed scheme is designed to ensure reliable
message delivery across dynamically changing vehicular topologies while minimizing latency
and network overhead. By incorporating mobility prediction algorithms, the system proactively
anticipates link breakages and reroutes messages through the most stable and efficient paths.
The use of edge nodes for localized decision-making allows the system to operate in a
decentralized yet coordinated manner, significantly enhancing the responsiveness and
scalability of the broadcast process
